Lies and Distortion

The real Niger scandal is beginning to surface...

A year later, the real Niger scandal is beginning to surface.
Knight-Ridder's Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel report on the
central role of the Italian intelligence agency SISMI in distributing
the forged documents ...

Italy's military intelligence agency, SISMI, and
people close to it, repeatedly tried to shop the bogus Niger uranium
story to governments in France, Britain and the United States. That
created the illusion that multiple sources were confirming the story.

    ...

Sept. 9 - With the White House's public campaign
against Iraq in full swing, Nicolo Pollari, head of SISMI, met with
then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen J. Hadley at the White
House. Hadley later took the blame for including the false Niger
allegation in Bush's 2003 State of the Union speech.

National Security Council spokesman Frederick Jones
said Thursday that the meeting was a 15-minute courtesy call and that
no one could recollect talk about yellowcake.

BUSH MISLEADS ON TAX CUTS

At Thursday's debate President Bush said most of his tax cuts "went to
low- and middle-income Americans."[1] That statement is flatly false.

An analysis by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities found that,
in 2004, the top 20 percent of earners received 69.8% of the tax cuts
enacted by President Bush.[2] While the middle 20 percent of earners
received an average tax cut of $647, the top 20 percent received an average
tax cut of $5,055.[3] As a result, those in the middle class are paying
a greater share of the federal taxes today than they were four years
ago.[4]

$8 Million Worth Of Distortions--from Bush Campaign

Two Bush ads full of misleading and false statements ran more than
9,000 times in 45 cities last week.

Summary

Two misleading Bush ads accusing Kerry of supporting tax increases on
gasoline and middle-class parents were running heavily last week.
According to the Campaign Media Analysis Group of TNS Media Intelligence,
which tracks TV ads in the top 100 markets, the two Bush ads accounted for
nearly half of the estimated $16 million spent by Bush and the
Republican National Committee during that week alone.

Both ads repeat claims we've repeatedly disputed here. They both
attempt to portray Kerry as eager to raise taxes on middle-income taxpayers,
which Kerry has said consistently he won't do. One ad characterizes
Kerry's votes against proposed tax cuts as votes to "raise taxes," an
outright falsehood.

Republicans out of touch with reality

Bunning (KY Republican Senator) reinforced an image among some that he is out of touch when he
didn't seem to know about the Army reservists in Iraq who recently
refused to go on a convoy mission. "Uh, what are you talking about? I
don't know what you are talking about," Bunning replied to a question.
When told the story had been in the news for more than a week, he said,
"I don't watch the news. And I have not read a newspaper in over six
weeks. When I do watch some TV news, I watch Fox."

George Bush- Fiction Writer

We live in the time where we have fictitious

that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time

Religion

There's a gullible side to the American people. They can be easily misled. Religion is the best device used to mislead them.

How Liberal is John Kerry?

A new RNC ad claims Kerry is "the most liberal man in the Senate."
Actually, his lifetime rating is 11th or lower, depending.

Summary

A Republican National Committee ad released Oct. 16 claims that Kerry
is "the most liberal man in the Senate." It's true that vote rankings by
the politically neutral magazine The National Journal rated Kerry "most
liberal" in 2003 and in three earlier years during his first Senate
term: 1986, 1988, and 1990. But over his entire career the Journal ranks
Kerry the 11th most liberal Senator. And by other rankings he's only a
bit left of his party's center.
